Btw if you are interested in the Lightroom Preset that I used to edit these photos it's called LightBeam. There's a story behind this preset but it vibed with me when I made it. It's part of my preset pack available on Esty: www.etsy.com/ca/listing/1528361553/20-urban-wanderlust-city-travel?click_key=ba7bc48a2a821aaaf4f8851d28007d8bcf0c5cbe%3A1528361553&click_sum=a6abbb2e&ref=shop_home_feat_2&pro=1 What I have done is provide a 50% off my presets until the end of the year use the code RUclips50
I am new to the manual settings and filters and wouldn't have thought that even at night, you want your nd filter on! I went night flying last night and used just a CPL. I have to play around woth the ISO and exposure as you mentioned! Thanks
Yeah that’s why I wanted to test the drone out in various scenarios as I wanted a long exposure shot and having an ND helped. Check out the long exposure video I made for during the day with ND1000 and 2000. Some interesting photo opportunities. Thanks for watching and commenting 🍻
One of my favorite things to do with a drone is long exposure nighttime hyperlapse.. Currently doing it with a paltry Air 2, but I am tempted to try an Air 3.. Or do i wait for an Air3S with a bigger sensor. Have you tried long exposure nighttime hyperlapses?
No I haven't done this yet, it will be added to the list and hopefully in coming week I can cover it when I cover hyper lapses. Thank you for your input 🚁
I tend to leave this on auto as you can adjust in post. Unless your shooting in changing lighting conditions like on a part cloudy day then fixing it will help staying consistent. Most of the time auto is fine. I would check this video out too: ruclips.net/video/rXg7ffE7RnY/видео.html
The only thing about using Nd filters at night could be extending time of exposure for longer light trails otherwise you could shorten exposure time to get right exposure.....or do a bracket which would be cool for getting the most out of shadows and highlights.Tell me I'm wrong
@@DimmyV all I think is that you can extend time of exposure with nd,but shadows will still be dark and highlights as it was unless you expose for highlights but then you loose all data in shadows but for that you don't need Nd filters.
@@grzegorzdutkowski3788 yeah it’s literally trying to find a balance. Not using an ND at 8sec to get the best chance for light trails for slow moving cars was just blown out. It’s better to expose for highlights imo. More flights to come but this was a good start
thanks for the video Demetrios. I've been messing about with air3 at night and have also noticed it drifting. Really annoying! i've tried to recalibrate imu etc but drifting still pops up randomly
hey Demetrios i was out flying tonight and cant find night mode setting on my air3 ? also was doing hyperlapse in free mode which i thought i could move doing my hyperlapse but no stick control ...hope you j\have some advice ,,,thanks in advance
Hi, 1. Night Mode in video is poor as the noise algorithm is so aggressive that if you have a closer object, you will see how awful is looking. 2. Best result at night is HLG, with ISO 1600, SS 1/25, FPS 25, WB between 2700 to 3300K. Is keeping all details just fine, you need to apply a good denoiser like TOPAZ or Neat. The result on close objects can be seen as very good in details, not like Night mode that is a crap. Cheers.
Thanks for sharing your insights on this. I will try HLG at night but already not a fan of it. Looking at TOPAZ its $300 so I'm curious if the studio version of DaVinci using their denoise effect will work too.
I just hear good things about studio version in general with the extra effects you get etc. Free updates and one time fee. I guess as times go by I can invest but also some clients just want the raw footage so they can do any post processing of their liking.
It looks like I have a made a bit of a booboo, but I will update. NightMode has a higher ISO Range of 12800. I need to double check, just havent had chance to fly.
Yeah. I noticed when I had auto iso on it would say iso 200 or whatever. This was with a long shutter. Then after playback the screen record to makes notes on each photo it ended up being at iso 100. I guess the photo imaging computation decided later was not needed. This is for auto iso not set iso. Sorry if I wasn’t clear.
From the presets I had this one I liked the most. It vibes with me. It’s ok if it’s not everyone’s taste everyone has their aesthetic. Appreciate the feedback.

I just ordered an Air 3. I can’t wait. Your tips will be very helpful for me. Great job.
Great choice, you will be very happy with the drone.
Just got mine today!

I love the Air 3, got it about 3 months ago & still learning it.. I appreciate the info, Thanks 👍

Awesome video - you didn’t touch on white balance much? Love to hear your thoughts on how you handle white balance at night.

Great job and very informative in the night video mode thank you!

finally i spoke with the bar owner and I will have some video from outdoor, so it will be some outdoor videos, i will take my air 3 instead avata

Yeah you can get a good exposure with ND it was just finding the right balance with the ISO. AEB was not good at night. Wouldn’t recommend.

I just flew mine at night, is there a setting for night mode?
On the Air 3 there is but u found DLOG M in regular video mode better. At ISO1600. Obviously if you have better ambient light you could drop this.
when you're shooting in Dlog, are you transcoding to another codec before editing? if so, to what and how are you doing it?
Currently Im using DJIs Dlog M to Rec709 conversion Lut. I haven’t explored anything else yet. I also believe Dlog is better than using Nightmode.
thanks for the video Demetrios. I've been messing about with air3 at night and have also noticed it drifting. Really annoying! i've tried to recalibrate imu etc but drifting still pops up randomly
I think it's because it doesn't have a subject to lock on because it's so dark.
@@DimmyV it could be. also i've had this happen during the day time. only on the tele lens. weird.
think i found the culprit for the drifting drone. small tear on the tip on the propeller. it's been fine ever since.
Useful info 👍
Thanks Robert

Just because it says 200 or 300 in the screen doesn't mean it's going to be captured at that? wtf
